The concert is part of Marshall University’s American Milestone Centennial Symposium Celebration of Negro History Week and Black History Month and reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to honoring the legacy, culture and contributions of African Americans. Founded and directed by Davis, the University of Illinois Black Chorus is internationally recognized for its dynamic presentations of traditional spirituals, gospel music and works by Black composers, blending scholarship with powerful artistic expression.
The event is free and open to the public. Community members, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend this commemorative performance celebrating history, heritage and the enduring influence of Black musical traditions.
