“This achievement is much more than a successful review,” said Brad D. Smith, president of Marshall University. “It is a testament to the commitment, collaboration and dedication of our faculty, staff, students and administrators who work every day to fulfill our mission of serving our students and our communities.”
The HLC’s decision follows a comprehensive evaluation process and confirms that Marshall meets all HLC criteria for accreditation and is carrying out its mission effectively.
The reaffirmation also recognizes Marshall’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional effectiveness and advance evidence-based decision-making across academic and administrative units. The review team highlighted Marshall’s growth during a challenging period for higher education, its commitment to shared governance, and the university’s strong position to achieve its strategic goals.
“Achieving reaffirmation of our accreditation is an important milestone for Marshall,” said Susan Tusing, Marshall’s chief accreditation officer. “This outcome reflects the dedication and collaboration of colleagues across the university and affirms the strength of our current practices. Accreditation is a continuous process, and over the next ten years, we will advance quality improvement initiatives that support student success, build on our culture of innovation, and prepare us for our next comprehensive review.”
Both Smith and Tusing thanked the university community for their contributions to the accreditation process and service to the university.
