Marshall University to host 5th International Conference on Statistical Distributions and Applications

Share
Marshall University’s Department of Mathematics and Physics will host the fifth International Conference on Statistical Distributions and Applications (ICOSDA 2026) Oct. 8-10 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in downtown Huntington.

ICOSDA 2026 will bring together statisticians, data scientists, mathematicians and researchers from around the world to share and discuss the latest advances in statistical distributions and their applications to real-world problems. The conference will provide a forum for exchanging ideas, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and promoting innovative research in theoretical and applied statistics and data science.

Conference topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Advances in statistical distributions and their applications
  • Statistical modeling and inference
  • High-dimensional data analysis
  • Bayesian statistics
  • Statistical methods in data science and artificial intelligence.

“Marshall University is proud to once again host this international conference,” said Alfred Akinsete, who serves as chair of the department. “It truly reflects Marshall’s commitment to advancing research, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and strengthening partnerships at regional, national and international levels.”

Akinsete, along with ICOSDA 2026 co-chairs Avishek Mallick and Raid Al-Aqtash, say the conference program will feature keynote and plenary lectures, invited and contributed sessions, topical presentations and a student poster session. Presenters will also have the opportunity to submit their work for consideration in a special issue of the Journal of Statistical Theory and Practice. All submissions will undergo the journal’s standard peer-review process.

The following distinguished speakers from leading institutions around the world will participate:

  • Barry Arnold, professor emeritus, University of California, Riverside
  • Narayanaswamy Balakrishnan, professor, McMaster University, Canada
  • Nilanjan Chatterjee, professor, Johns Hopkins University
  • Susmita Datta, professor, University of Florida
  • Thomas Mathew, professor, University of Maryland
  • Hon Keung Tony Ng, professor, Bentley University
  • Ruth Pfeiffer, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health

The conference is sponsored by Marshall University’s College of Science and Department of Mathematics and Physics.
