Alumni from the Marshall University Public Relations (MU-PR) academic program earned 10 Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) professional Tribus Awards this month for their work on three nonprofit strategic communications campaigns completed during their time as students at Marshall in 2019 and 2020.

The Dr. Carter G. Woodson Lyceum at Marshall University is inviting the Tri-State community to attend two special lectures during its Institute on Black History Instruction – one celebrating Juneteenth, the other recalling the significant role played by Woodson and others in the struggle to educate African Americans. The lectures will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 19 and June 20.

Students from WMUL-FM, Marshall University’s public radio station, brought home awards from three national broadcasting competitions: the 2020 Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Mark of Excellence Contest,  the Hermes Creative Awards 2020-2021 competition, and the 27th Annual Communicator Awards 2021 Audio Competition. WMUL-FM students won one first-place award and one finalist award in the SPJ

Marshall University’s jazz studies program will host a Virtual Jazz Camp June 14-18 for music students age 13 through adults. The virtual sessions will be offered with sessions at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day and will be livestreamed through the Marshall University Jazz Facebook page.

Sandra Reed, a professor of art and former director of the school of art and design at Marshall University, has been named the 26th Distinguished John Deaver Drinko Academy Fellow.
