The Marshall University Department of History will present a lecture by Irish historian Dr. Sarah Covington at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct.15, in Room 134 of Harris Hall on Marshall’s Huntington campus. She will speak on “The Use of Folklore in Historical Studies.” The event is free and open to all, and will be followed by a Q&A and light refreshments.
Dr. Alan B. Gould, a longtime faculty member and administrator at Marshall University, passed away Sept. 29 after a long illness.
The A.E. Stringer Visiting Writers Series at Marshall University will host a reading to support the Facing Hunger Foodbank at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, in room 154 of Smith Hall.
The Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) program at Marshall University has been reaccredited, and this time has been awarded 10 years of accreditation by the American Psychological Association, the maximum amount of time that any program can be awarded.

Jacqueline Stevens, who is pursuing a master’s degree in psychology at Marshall University, has been awarded a fellowship worth $8,500 by the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, which is among the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor societies for all academic disciplines. Stevens is one of 58 students nationwide to receive a Phi Kappa Phi fellowship.
