Share

Minority Health Institute received $250,000.00 from the Bureau for Behavioral Health (BBH), with funding from SAMHSA and the West Virginia Department of Human Services (WV DoHS), which supports evidence-based programs that promote emotional well-being, community-based prevention, person-centered treatment, and recovery-focused support.

This grant focuses on key Children’s Mental Health Initiatives, including Early Serious Mental Illness, Serious Emotional Disturbances, the Youth Early Diversion Behavioral Health Partnership, and the 988 Lifeline.

Its purpose is to provide training, support, and outreach to enhance the quality, accessibility, and coordination of behavioral health services across West Virginia—covering the full continuum of prevention, treatment, and recovery.

The Minority Health Institute also received $57, 850.00 in the Transformation Transfer Initiative (TTI).

Funding is provided by SAMHSA and the Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) Transformation Transfer Initiative. The TTI provides flexible funding awards to strengthen innovative programs.

Population of Focus: West Virginia’s (WV) underserved communities, which consist of rural Appalachians, youth living in poverty, youth at risk of or with juvenile justice or child welfare involvement, or youth at risk for or currently diagnosed with SED (Serious Emotional Disturbance) or SMI (Serious Mental Illness).
