Heidi Blaisdell

Biography

Heidi has fourteen years of experience teaching face-to-face, virtual, and online composition courses at her former institution in Nashville, TN. She is excited to be back “home” at Marshall University, as four generations of her family members have graduated from Marshall and her own graduate journey began here. Her MA is in Creative and Media Writing from Swansea University in Wales, and she is currently working on her dissertation, which explores the student experience of writing about trauma in composition classes. She is especially interested in course design that fosters empathy and belonging in academic communities. Her work has been published in The Journal of Multimodal Rhetorics, Teaching English in the Two-Year College, and The Community College Library: Reference and Instruction. She loves spending time with her husband (Jay), son (Robin), and cat (Auggie).
