Biography
John Adkins brings more than twenty years of experience in librarianship, including over seventeen years as Director of the Schoenbaum Library at the University of Charleston. Throughout his career, he has guided academic library services through significant change, including collection development to support evolving curricula, organizational and space transitions, and the reimagining of library services during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. A dedicated educator and leader, Adkins has served in key academic and professional leadership roles and has developed instructional initiatives focused on information literacy, copyright, academic integrity, and the ethical use of generative artificial intelligence. He remains actively engaged in library scholarship, peer review, and community outreach, bringing a practical and contemporary perspective to library education.
