Biography
Alissa Rookard, a dedicated professional and Kentucky native, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies from Morehead State University. She brings over five years of experience in the non-profit sector, beginning her career as the lead advocate for survivors of sexual violence at one of Kentucky’s state-designated rape crisis centers, where she provided comprehensive support to individuals from diverse backgrounds. After taking special interest in the investigative process, Alissa advanced to serve as Multidisciplinary Enhancement Project Advocate for the Child Advocacy Center, where she guided minors and their families through the investigative process in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. As the Coordinator of the Women’s Center, Alissa fosters collaborations with community organizations and campus partners to address key issues including reproductive health, social justice, and gender equity. She leads several programs including the MU BOLD Women’s Leadership Network and Women of Marshall Awards, which promote leadership, empowerment, and recognition of folks across campus and beyond.
