Hearst Foundations help Marshall Health establish comprehensive system of recovery care for mothers

A two-year, $250,000 health grant from Hearst Foundations will support the development of a comprehensive system of care through the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and Marshall Health for pregnant and parenting women on the road to recovery.

Timely identification of newborns exposed to both opioids and gabapentin during pregnancy could mean more appropriate care for newborns experiencing withdrawal, according to researchers at Marshall University, in collaboration with Marshall Health, Cabell Huntington Hospital and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Marshall University will not be allowed to use Hurricane High School during the teachers’ strike because there will be no service personnel available to open the school.  Instructors will e-mail their students with assignments and Blackboard information so that students can continue with their coursework.
