Microsoft 365 Education for Students is an Microsoft 365 plan that is available at no additional charge to current Marshall students, which allows students to install the latest version of Microsoft on up to 5 PCs or Macs and on other mobile devices including Android, iPad®, and Windows tablets. It includes 1 TB of OneDrive storage, managed by Marshall University, for schoolwork and homework. In addition, students can edit and collaborate using Microsoft 365 Online, Yammer, and SharePoint Sites.

All currently enrolled students have a personal email account using Microsoft 365 email, otherwise known as MUMail. This can be accessed through the myMU portal.
Create, edit and share documents from any device and work together with other people at the same time. OneDrive provides students with 1 TB of storage for you to manage work files, with the ability for IT to protect important data. Visit our OneDrive page for more info.
OneNote allows for free-form information gathering and multi-user collaboration. It gathers users’ notes (handwritten or typed), drawings, screen clippings and audio commentaries. Great for keeping track of important lecture notes or quick and easy drafting of papers.
Microsoft Teams is a workspace for real-time collaboration and communication, meetings, file and app sharing, and more. Teams is fully integrated with Microsoft 365 and helps your teams work more effectively and efficiently.

How do I get Microsoft 365?

    1. Go to Portal.office.com and sign in using your Marshall University email.
    2. Once you are logged in, click on the Install Microsoft 365 button on the upper right side of the apps landing page you will choose Microsoft 365 apps.
    3. An orange Microsoft 365 window should appear with instructions.  Follow these the instructions to save to your device.
    4. After installation is complete, run any Microsoft application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) and sign into Microsoft 365 using your MUNet username and password.

On Your Computer

  1. Head to MyMU by clicking here.
  2. Enter your MUNET Username & Password. Select login.
  3. On the right side, under Email select Microsoft 365 email.

On Your Phone

Android

  1. Select Settings
  2. Select  Accounts
  3. Select the Add Account to add an account
  4. Select Microsoft 365
  5. Enter your email address @live.marshall.edu and tap Next
  6. At the Marshall University sign in page, type your password then tap Next

iPhone / iPad

  1. Select Settings
  2. Select Mail and then Accounts
  3. Select the Add button (+) to add an account
  4. Select Microsoft Exchange
  5. Tap Sign In
  6. Enter the following:
    • Email Address: username@live.marshall.edu
    • Password: MUNET Password
    • Tap Sign In
  7. Choose the content you want to sync, then tap Save

Please note: Marshall University Faculty & Staff still utilize Outlook Exchange 2013 for email purposes. As we continue to convert Staff & Faculty from on-premise Exchange 2016 and O365 Exchange Online, you may receive a redirection link to access your email online.  If you have already been migrated, visit Outlook.office365.com and log in.
