Program Overview
The Music Management area of emphasis within the Music Industry, B.A. prepares students for meaningful careers in the business side of the music world. Students engage with the financial, artistic and ethical issues involved in the contemporary music scene, developing the knowledge, skills and methods needed to navigate a fast-changing industry.
Built on the strong foundation of the Music Industry core curriculum, this emphasis pairs music business coursework with targeted study in accounting, marketing, management, media strategy and entrepreneurial law. Students learn how the music industry operates from multiple angles, including artist representation, label relations, live events and digital media strategy.
As with all Music Industry, B.A. majors, students in the Music Management emphasis complete an internship as the culminating experience of their degree, putting their classroom knowledge to work in a real professional setting. Whether that means working with a management firm, a venue, a label or a media company, graduates leave Marshall with both an academic foundation and a professional portfolio.
