Program Overview

The purpose of marketing is to get and keep customers by determining and satisfying customer needs and wants in a diverse market. This is done by making sure a company has the right products and/or services and they are correctly promoted, distributed and priced.

Marshall University’s accredited Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Marketing prepares you to professionally carry out these responsibilities through the process of planning and implementing the conception, pricing, promotion and delivery of goods and services involved in exchanges between businesses and their customers.

In addition to required marketing coursework, you have the opportunity to pursue a program emphasis:

  • Sales Emphasis – Specialize in face-to-face techniques of selling and management, with an emphasis on strategic marketing techniques.
  • Digital Marketing and Analytics Emphasis – Learn methods of applying digital marketing techniques to integrated marketing communications and consumer behavior and analyzing the success of those efforts.
  • Design-Your-Own Emphasis – With the help of an experienced advisor, choose a set of electives that will help you get where you want to go in Marketing.

Marketing classes in Marshall’s Brad D. Smith Undergraduate School of Business involve experiential learning and internship opportunities. As a result of these experiences, graduates of Marshall’s Marketing program have gone on to work at major companies including Amazon and Intuit.

Marshall’s Marketing program, like all of the Lewis College of Business programs, is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Marketing faculty at Marshall University are experienced educators and award-winning teachers who actively publish and consult in marketing-related fields.

“I would recommend Marshall to literally everyone. People care here, and you’re part of a family. I know it’s a slogan, but it’s the truth. You’re pushed, you’re encouraged, you’re hugged when you need a hug. There are people who care about me as a person. They care about me academically and personally. I’m three hours from home but I have a new home here.”
