A Human-Centered Approach to AI in Education Miniconference

Central West Virginia Writing Project hosted an AI Workshop at Marshall University in partnership with the June Harless Center and the Marshall University College of Education and Professional Development. We brought together students in the fall of 2025 for an exciting session: “A Human Centered Approach to AI in Education.” This interactive workshop – led by teachers, for teachers – explored how artificial intelligence can empower teachers and learners while keeping people at the center of the classroom experience.

Participants engaged in hands-on discussions and activities around topics like:

  • Using AI to amplify West Virginia voices and literature
  • Designing strong prompts for generative AI
  • Unlocking the power of AI for reading and writing accommodations
  • Expanding access to STEM learning through AI-powered tools
