Biography
Josh Kluever (Ph.D., Binghamton University) is an assistant professor of American history, specializing in the Gilded Age and Progressive Era. His research examines how socialist state legislators gained and retained political power during the first half of the 20th century. His manuscript, “Hiding in Plain Sight: American Socialists at the State Level,” explores socialist political strategy in states across the country. Dr. Kluever has published articles in the Journal of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era and the Middle West Review. He has also written in various non-academic venues like The Conversation, Jacobin, Washington Post, and the Cap Times. He has spoken at numerous conferences including American Political History Conference, the Midwestern History Association Conference, and the Society for Historians of the Gilded and Progressive Era Conference.
