Room Assignments
Your Room Assignment
Once your Housing Application has been processed, you will receive an email at your Marshall email address with your room assignment.
Due to a high volume of requests for certain residence halls, not all students will be placed in the hall of their first choice. Should this occur, your name will automatically be placed on a waiting list for that residence hall.
Roommate Information
- Roommate information for First Time Freshman is sent in June in the room assignment email. If you would like to receive your future roommate’s email and their cell phone number, visit the “Check Assignment Status” button below.
- Roommate information may not be available if a student requests their contact information to be kept private.

Spring Move-Out
The residence halls close on May 10, 2026 at Noon.
Students staying for Summer School Sessions will receive additional instructions for moving to the summer school building when they receive their summer school assignments.

Residence Hall Association
The Marshall University Residence Hall Association (RHA) is a student-run organization advised by residence life staff dedicated to enhancing the residence hall experience.
RHA implements fun programs and engages in advocacy. It serves as the voice of the residential students to the Housing and Residence Life Office, Marshall University Student Government, faculty, administrators, dining services and other relevant parties.
RHA members are elected each spring and serve a one year term which begins at the conclusion of the spring semester. RHA General Assembly meetings are open to all residence hall students.
RHA benefits:
- Leadership development
- Plan programming
- Connect with other residents
- Advocate in the residence halls
- Serve the community
