Admitted Student Checklist

To activate your Marshall Account, you’ll need your Marshall ID number, which can be found in the decision letter emailed to you. It follows this format: “90-XX-XXXX”.

If you are having trouble logging in, please chat with our IT Service Desk (available 24/7) and they can assist you with your account and setting up your password!

An I-20/DS-2019 is required to obtain a student visa. Financial documentation is required to issue the I-20 or DS-2019.

If you do not require an I-20 or DS-2019, skip to the Pre-Arrival Information at the bottom of this page.

• Please review the Preparing Financial Documentation form, details the required types and proof of funds for obtaining or updating an I-20 at Marshall University, including acceptable financial documents and the minimum funding amounts needed for tuition and living expenses.
• Please fully complete the Affidavit of Support. This form is required for the I-20/DS-2019 request form and all signatures need to be hand-signed.
• Gather any bank statements, financial award letters, etc. you will need for the I-20/DS-2019 form.

• Submit the I-20/DS-2019 Request Form
• Once you receive your I-20/DS-2019 from the ISS office, pay the I-901 SEVIS Fee.

• Once the form has been submitted, you will receive your I-20/DS-2019 via email from the International Student Services office. This will include all necessary information on obtaining a student visa and paying your SEVIS fee, etc.

• Apply for a student visa, if required.
• Learn how to Maintain Status while in the United States.
• Once your visa is approved, plan your arrival to the United States.
• Remember that students entering the United States on a new, initial I-20 may enter as early as 30 days prior to the program start date.
