Biography
Amanda Riggleman serves as a Literacy Specialist at the June Harless Center at Marshall University, working in partnership with the West Virginia Department of Education’s Ready, Read, Write initiative to support high-quality, research-based literacy instruction across the state. She collaborates with district leadership and educators in Berkeley, Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Mineral, Morgan, and Pendleton counties, providing guidance on effective literacy practices essential for academic achievement.
With eight years of classroom experience in upper elementary settings and an additional twelve years as a Title I teacher at the intermediate grade level, Amanda brings a wealth of instructional expertise to her current role. Her background includes working with a diverse range of learners, including students with learning differences and those who are learning English as a second language.
Amanda holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Eastern Mennonite University, a Master of Arts in Reading Education from Marshall University, and a Leadership Certificate from West Virginia State University. She is committed to elevating literacy outcomes for West Virginia students and supporting teachers with the latest best practices, exemplifying the June Harless Center’s goal to ensure equitable, high-quality educational opportunities for all West Virginia children.
