Biography
Ms. Holly Adkins is the Lead Pre-K Studio Educator for the Marshall University Early Education STEAM Center at Explorer Academy. All from Marshall University, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a specialization in Multi-Categorical Special Education with an emphasis in mild to moderate disabilities as well as a Master of Arts in School Counseling. In addition, Ms. Holly holds a certification in Autism and Early Childhood Education.
Ms. Holly began working with the June Harless Center (JHC) in 2018 as a Graduate Intern, where she worked for two years. Working with Ms. Claire, she learned a lot about her teaching philosophy and providing children with developmentally appropriate provocations and experiences. After graduating with her master’s degree, Ms. Holly worked as a school counselor for one year. Her love for early childhood brought her back to JHC as the lead teacher in 2021. Ms. Holly values all children and believes they are active participants in their learning. She enjoys providing engaging experiences that invite children to be curious, play, demonstrate teamwork, become independent, and problem-solve. Conflict arises daily in the world of Pre-K and Ms. Holly is passionate about supporting children through the problem-solving approach, encouraging them to negotiate and search for ways in which everyone can win.
