MURC announces research awards for faculty and undergraduates January 5, 2023 Contact: Clark Davis, Senior University Relations Specialist, 304-696-3408 The Marshall University Research Corporation has announced the winners of the Spring 2023 Undergraduate Creative Discovery and Research Awards and the Summer 2023 John Marshall Scholars Award program. The seven awardees of the Spring 2023 Undergraduate Creative Discovery and Research Awards will receive a $1,750 stipend, and $750 is provided for the participating faculty mentor. The program is open to qualifying students in the College of Science, College of Business, College of Liberal Arts, College of Arts and Media, College of Education and Professional Development, College of Engineering and Computer Sciences, College of Health Professions and the Honors College. Spring 2023 awardees are: Atkins, Nicole (CECS) – Interactive multimodal cancer data integration on histopathology and radiology Barnes, Julia (COS) – Chromatography of Weight Loss Products Kiser, Keely (COLA) – Examining the impact of SES, Marital Status, and Education Level on the Acceptability of PCIT with Appalachian Caregivers Parson, Mercedez (COHP) – Understanding Recovery: Recovering Addicts’ Views on Treatment Scott, Shannon (CAM) – Storing, Cataloging and Displaying Marshall’s Stained Glass Windows Skeen, Madison (COS) – Species Limits in the Japanese Paradise Flycatcher Complex (Terpsiphone atrocaudatra) Vitalos, Hannah (CECS) – A comprehensive survey of deep learning algorithms in digital pathology The nine awardees of the John Marshall Scholars Award program will each receive a $6,500 stipend.
