The Marshall University Research Corporation has announced the winners of the Spring 2024 Undergraduate Creative Discovery & Research Awards and the Summer 2024 John Marshall Scholars Award Program.
The program is open to qualifying students in the College of Science, the Lewis College of Business, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Arts and Media, the College of Education and Professional Development, the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences, the College of Health Professions and the Honors College.
Spring 2024 awardees are:
- Rafael Alfonso (Honors College) — Simulated Coping Skills: Learning to Manage Stressors in VR
- Melia Beckford (College of Arts and Media) — Discerning the Self: An Exploration of Identity as Seen Through Black & Biracial Hair
- Trace Clark (College of Science) — Using Antioxidant Assays and Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Spectroscopy to Determine the Defensive Role of Antioxidants in Tardigrades

Since its inception, the John Marshall Scholar program has supported the creative discovery and research work of faculty members from the College of Science, the Lewis College of Business, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Arts and Media, the College of Education and Professional Development, the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences, the College of Health Professions and Marshall Libraries.
Summer 2024 John Marshall Scholar Awardees are:
