The Top Scholar Program brings together scholarship opportunities within the Honors College, including the Society of Yeager Scholars, Hedrick Scholars, Hodges Scholars and 1837 Scholars. The program is designed for high-achieving students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential and a commitment to community service.
Top Scholar opportunities can include significant financial support, as well as access to study abroad experiences, leadership and professional development, undergraduate research, small Honors College seminars, personalized mentorship and success coaching.
The Top Scholar application allows students to apply for many of the university’s top scholarship opportunities in one application. Applicants should also complete a separate application for admission to Marshall University. The annual Top Scholar application deadline is Dec. 15.
Each scholarship has its own eligibility requirements. Students interested in applying are encouraged to have official ACT or SAT scores on file, with Marshall recommending a score of at least 26 ACT or 1230 SAT for Top Scholar consideration.
The Society of Yeager Scholars, one of the opportunities available through the Top Scholar application, provides recipients with full tuition and fees, room and board, a textbook stipend, a personal computer and support for study abroad, an approved internship or undergraduate research. Yeager Scholars also participate in an interdisciplinary curriculum and international study at the University of Oxford.
Marshall introduced the unified Top Scholar application in 2024 to bring several of the Honors College’s named scholarship opportunities together under one application process.
