Marshall University’s marching band, the Marching Thunder, is traveling to London, England, to perform in the 2020 New Year’s Day Parade, which attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators each year.

Students from Marshall University’s public radio station, WMUL-FM, received four Platinum Awards, eight Gold Awards and six Honorable Mention Awards in the MarCom Creative Awards 2019 Competition.

The Marshall University School of Music will present a piano recital featuring Spanish pianist and Joan C. Edwards Distinguished Professor in the Arts Antonio Galera at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, in Smith Recital Hall.

The Marshall University School of Music will present Concert of Carols at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, 513 10th St., in Huntington. The concert will feature the MU Choral Union, the University Chorus, the a cappella singing group 3rd Avenue, the Chamber Choir and the Wind Symphony, along with high school performers from throughout the area.

Marshall University’s schools of music and medicine have teamed up to host a benefit concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, 513 10th St. in Huntington, featuring the Marshall Wind Symphony and Recovery Point Choir.

Marshall University’s contemporary a cappella singing group, 3rd Avenue, will perform its winter concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, in Smith Recital Hall on the Huntington campus.

Former Marshall University student Jillian Howell, a production assistant for Disney Animation who worked on Frozen II, will participate in a public discussion after a screening of the film at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at Marquee Cinemas in Pullman Square.

The MUsic Alive Guest Artist and Faculty Collaboration Concert Series & Woodlands Chamber Series, directed by Dr. Şölen Dikener, Dale Capehart and Molly Watson, will present two performances Dec. 4 and 5.

The Marshall University School of Music will present MU Jazz Ensemble I in concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, in Smith Recital Hall.

The Marshall University Chorus will perform a concert in collaboration with 3rd Avenue, the Recovery Point Choir and Cypress. The theme of the concert is “Bloom,” and it will take place at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, in Smith Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public, with sponsorship from the School of Music in the College of Arts and Media.
