Marshall University’s College of Health Professions is providing global internship opportunities for its students during the 2017-18 winter season at YongPyong Resort in South Korea – a venue hosting the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic ski and snowboard events.

Students with the Marshall University School of Pharmacy’s Chapter of the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) sponsored an Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest Monday, Dec. 4, to benefit Toys for Tots. Prizes were given for the top-voted ugly sweaters. The chapter also collected toys for the annual drive sponsored by the United States

Dr. Allison E. Carey, associate professor and chair of the English department in Marshall University’s College of Liberal Arts, was recently appointed by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) as its Higher Education Policy Analyst for the state of West Virginia. She will serve a two-year term as West Virginia’s only higher education

Noah Ichite, a student in the Marshall University College of Health Professions, presented his research at the 33rd American Society for Gravitational and Space Research (ASGSR) annual meeting, which took place Oct. 25-28 in Seattle, Washington.

Dr. Anna Mummert, an associate professor of mathematics in Marshall University’s College of Science, has been named treasurer of the Society for Mathematical Biology. Her term will run from 2017 until 2019.

Marilee N. Chapman, a third-year pharmacy student at the Marshall University School of Pharmacy and a Native American from the Dine (Navajo) tribe, is a 2017 recipient of an academic award from the Indian Health Services (IHS).

Dr. F. Robin O’Keefe, a professor of biology in Marshall University’s College of Science, has led an international team of researchers in new discoveries related to marine life evolution.

– Seven Marshall University students attended MathFest 2017, a conference hosted by the Mathematics Association of America (MAA), July 26-29 in Chicago, with five of them giving presentations and two of them walking away with awards for outstanding presentations.

Dr. Ashley Mason of the Marshall University College of Health Professions has received board certification with a specialty in pediatrics through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.

Two sections of Marshall University Public Relations Campaign Management classes took home four first-place Crystal Awards from the Public Relations Society of America-West Virginia Chapter at the PRSA-W.Va. Gala June 14 at the Culture Center in Charleston.
