The Marshall University chapter of the Society of Physics Students has earned an Outstanding Chapter award from the SPS national office. This is the first time the chapter has been recognized for its excellence as a top-tier student-led physical sciences organization, typically a designation given to fewer than 10 percent of all SPS chapters at colleges and universities in the United States and internationally.

Education company EAB has named Marshall University as a winner of its Student Success Collaborative Technology Pioneer Award.

The Marshall University Research Corporation has announced the winners of the spring 2021 Undergraduate Creative Discovery and Research Scholar Award program.

The stage is set for Saturday’s first virtual commencement at Marshall University. Two separate ceremonies, one at 9 a.m. and the other at noon, will recognize the university’s graduates from Spring 2020 and Summer 2020 and Winter 2020, respectively.

The Marshall University community is remembering Brig. Gen. Chuck Yeager, who passed away Monday at the age of 97. Yeager, the daring Air Force pilot and World War II veteran, was the first person to break the sound barrier. He was also a key supporter of the Marshall University’s Society of Yeager Scholars, which was named in his honor. The society is the premier academic scholarship that has been in place at Marshall since 1987. More than 300 students have received the generous full-ride scholarship that bears his name. 

Marshall University alumnus Julian Bell and his wife, Robin, have created the Julian and Robin Bell Scholarship to help full-time undergraduate or graduate students in good academic standing and who demonstrate financial need, per Marshall University’s Office of Student Financial Assistance.

The Marshall University Research Corporation has announced the winners of its summer 2021 John Marshall Scholars Award program.

The Marshall University Lewis College of Business has established a physical location for the Center for Stakeholder Engagement, located inside of the Dean’s Suite in Room 107 of Corbly Hall. The initiative will promote Marshall’s business academic programs and boost student engagement and professional development.

The Marshall University Center of Excellence for Recovery is looking for student leaders for their Collegiate Strategic Prevention Framework Partnership for Success (C-SPF-PFS). The project seeks to enhance prevention infrastructure and build capacity among higher education institutions in Southern West Virginia. The goal is to prevent the onset and reduce the progression of alcohol, tobacco and vaping, marijuana and prescription drug misuse and its related problems.
