Heroes of International Housekeeping Week honored

Marshall University will highlight and honor the hard work of its housekeeping and grounds staff Saturday, Sept. 7, through Friday, Sept. 14, during International Housekeeping Week. The university has organized a series of events to show appreciation to those who help Marshall’s campus and facilities shine.
Psy.D. program reaccredited by the American Psychological Association
The Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) program at Marshall University has been reaccredited, and this time has been awarded 10 years of accreditation by the American Psychological Association, the maximum amount of time that any program can be awarded.
Music faculty to perform Duo Recital Sept. 13
Marshall University faculty members Dr. Alexander Lee, tenor, and Dr. Henning Vauth, piano, will present art songs by composers from around the world, including the U.S., Germany, Italy, France and Russia.

Physical therapy professor invents therapeutic device to improve patient outcomes
Dr. Brad Profitt, assistant professor in the Marshall University School of Physical Therapy, has developed a therapeutic device used to regain knee extension after an injury or surgery. Profitt has a patent pending for his invention and recently received a $10,000 grant from the Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI) to develop and produce a prototype.
School of Pharmacy welcomes new chair, faculty to its department of pharmaceutical sciences and research
The Marshall University School of Pharmacy has selected Boyd R. Rorabaugh, Ph.D., as professor and chair of its department of pharmaceutical sciences and research. The department also welcomes Melinda E. Varney, Ph.D., as an assistant professor and Mohammad Ahsanul Akbar, M.Pharm., Ph.D., as an instructor.
Marshall, U.S. Department of Homeland Security team up to combat opioid crisis
Marshall University has joined in partnership with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the investigative arm of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), to leverage resources to combat the opioid epidemic.

Dr. Greg Michaelson, an assistant professor of engineering at Marshall University, has assisted the Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance (SSSBA) and the West Virginia Department of Highways (WVDOH) in developing West Virginia’s first press-brake-formed steel tub girder bridge.
