Christian Joel Paredes, a senior at Huntington High School, is the recipient of the President Stephen J. Kopp Memorial Huntington Rotary Club Scholarship, the club has announced.

Four faculty members from the Lewis College of Business at Marshall University have been honored by the college’s Faculty Awards Committee for their research, teaching and service, Glen Midkiff, director of stakeholder engagement, announced today.

Marshall University’s Women’s Center and Women’s Studies program presented the Women of Marshall Awards at a reception at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in Drinko Library.

Marshall University’s newly created Center for Continuing Education will be offering classes this summer on both the Huntington and South Charleston campuses. In addition, culinary classes and camps will be held at Huntington’s Kitchen in downtown Huntington.

She may be several years away from applying to medical school or even college, but Lakshmi Sundaram, a sophomore at Hurricane High School, is well on her way to a science career.

The June Harless Center for Rural Research Education and Development will host the annual June Harless Center Hall of Fame Dinner Thursday, May 5. The reception begins at 5 p.m., with dinner served at 6 p.m. in the Brad D. Smith Foundation Hall on Marshall University’s Huntington campus.

Marshall University officials today were notified that a student has been diagnosed with bacterial meningitis, an inflammation of the membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord. The student became ill over the weekend and has been hospitalized since yesterday.

The Marshall Recreation Center will be hosting its first Summer Rec Kickoff event from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at the Rec’s intramural field. Everyone in the Huntington community is encouraged to attend the kickoff.

The Yeager program at Marshall University continues to see growth in student numbers as the total number of scholars increases for the third consecutive year.

The 18th Annual Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine Golf Classic, presented by BrickStreet Insurance and Natural Resource Partners, has been relocated to Sugarwood Golf Club in Lavalette due to flooding caused by recent rains.
