A group of faculty within Marshall University’s Department of Mathematics has been awarded a $170,000 grant from the National Security Agency (NSA). The grant will be used to fund undergraduate research and develop a scientific workforce in Appalachia.

John J. Jasko, M.D., a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and assistant professor at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, has been named to Castle Connolly’s list of America’s Top Doctors®.

The Society of Composers Inc. Region III Conference will offer the public 10 concerts of new music by internationally recognized composers on Marshall University’s Huntington campus Thursday, Feb. 25 through Saturday, Feb. 27.

Marshall University’s Huntington campus will “adopt” 290 teens this week when the High School Honor Band Festival kicks off Thursday, Feb. 4.

The Marshall University community in the Point Pleasant and South Charleston areas will welcome President Jerome A. “Jerry” Gilbert with receptions later this month. Both receptions will run from 5 to 6 p.m. and are open to all Marshall students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends.

Marshall University President Jerome Gilbert and members of the university’s senior management team will continue to host monthly open house meetings with members of the Marshall and Huntington communities. The next open house will be tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 3.

Fiction writer Tom Noyes will read from his newest book, Come by Here: A Novella and Stories, on Marshall University’s Huntington campus Tuesday, Feb. 16.

The Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and the Marshall University School of Pharmacy are recipients of a $100,000 gift from Jerry and Margaret Hodge of Amarillo, Texas.

The Marshall Recreation Center will open its doors to the Marshall community to celebrate its 7th anniversary Thursday, Feb. 4.

Marshall University’s Departments of Social Work and Public Health have received a $15,000 grant from the West Virginia Rural Health Initiative to conduct health assessments in rural communities.
