Program Details: Professional-Graduate (Clinical Doctorate) | Duration: 4 Years (Excluding prerequisites). No bachelor’s degree required for admission.

Apply Now & Deadlines
Students must complete an application for admission via the PharmCAS website and to Marshall University; applications must be completed and submitted electronically by the appropriate application deadline. After submitting PharmCAS and Marshall University applications, qualified applicants may be invited to complete additional steps (online-interview) with MUSOP.

Direct Admission Requirements (International Students)
- Must have BPharm/similar pharmacy degree with ability to practice in home country of residence
- Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Transcripts required to be evaluated by course-WES/NACES member
- TOEFL 80/equivalent IELTS/Duolingo
- 2 Letters of Recommendation
- Complete and pass onsite/online interview
- Immunization record & Proof of funding
Pathways to a PharmD at Marshall
Marshall offers several pathways into the PharmD program so students can begin at different stages in their academic journey. International students may use any of these pathways after high school, provided all prerequisite and admission requirements are met.
Accelerated 1-Year Prerequisite Completion Pathway
- ACT Math score of 24 (or equivalent SAT)
- ACT English score of 21 (or equivalent SAT)
- Minimum high school GPA of 3.5
- Student must be admitted to BSPS Program
- Complete prerequisite coursework (42-44 hours) in 1 year with a 3.3 GPA and transition to PharmD program after meeting entry requirements.
- Close advising with the School of Pharmacy Office of Student Affairs regarding when to apply.
Accelerated 2-Year Prerequisite Completion Pathway
- ACT Math score of 24 (or equivalent SAT)
- ACT English score of 21 (or equivalent SAT)
- Minimum high school GPA of 2.5
- Student must be admitted to BSPS Program
- Complete prerequisite coursework (55 hours) in 2 years with a 2.5 GPA
- Indicate pre-pharmacy as the intended concentration upon entry to Marshall University
- Maintain continuous full-time university enrollment (excluding summer terms)
Accelerated BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences to PharmD Pathway
- Complete the first 3 years with an undergraduate overall GPA and a GPA within the major of at least 3.30 to enter the PharmD program in year 4
Note: Students can be admitted without ACT/SAT scores. However, additional course work may be required. Please consult with the student affairs office at MUSOP before submitting your application. Additional details are provided in view book.
Dual Degree Programs
Several dual degree programs are available. These include PharmD-MAPS, PharmD-HCA, PharmD-MSHI and PharmD-MBA.
- No additional tuition for the PharmD-MAPS dual degree.
- The PharmD-MAPS and PharmD-MSHI dual degrees are eligible for the STEM OPT extension.

Program Details: 120 credit hours of study. Prepares students for targeted industries in drug discovery, development, and commercialization.
Direct Admission Requirements (International Students)
- High school (equivalent to 12th grade) GPA 2.0/4.0 or higher
- English proficiency: 61 TOEFL, 6.0 IELTS, or 90 Duolingo

Program Details: 30-32 credit hours of study. Prepares students for targeted industries in regulatory affairs, drug discovery, development, and other related areas.
Direct Admission Requirements (International Students)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a recommended degree GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional references
- Official transcripts from degree-granting institution (additional transcripts may be required, at the discretion of the program).
- No entrance exam is required; however, a Graduate Record Exam (GRE) score may be submitted to strengthen an application.

Career Options
- Salary: Annual starting salary averages between $75,000 and $105,000.

The Marshall Advantage: We are among the most affordable institutions in the country and one of the few to offer in-state tuition to all eligible international PharmD students.
Estimated Tuition & Fees
- PharmD Costs: All international students will be charged at in-state tuition rate for PharmD program (direct entry).
- Pathway tuition varies: (1+4)-Additional ~$30,000 | (2+4)-Additional ~$40,000 | (3+4)-Additional ~$60,000. Check with MUSOP before submission of application.
- BSPS & MAPS/MSPS Costs: Please check the tuition rate.
- MOU Discount: Students from academic institutions that have an MOU with Marshall University will have a tuition reduction of approximately 10%.
- Living Expenses: Estimated at ~$1000/month in Huntington, WV.
Scholarships for International Students
- Dean’s Scholarship (PharmD): Tuition only $10k/year after meeting eligibility. Visit admission viewbook for more details.
- Direct Entry Bonus: All direct entry students into PharmD program that are enrolled and attend classes will receive a one-time $500 scholarship.
- Additional Awards (PharmD): Other scholarships ranging from ~$1,000-$5,000.
- M.S. Funding: All M.S. applicants (Emphasis- Pharmaceutical Sciences Research) will be considered for funding (up to $12K/year stipend plus tuition waiver) after the requirements for enrollment have been met.
Dual Degree Option (PharmD-MA) & STEM OPT
- PharmD-MA allows students to complete MA in parallel with PharmD with no additional tuition.
- Provides STEM degree that is eligible for OPT extension.
- Must work with advisor to fill in required application after coming to Marshall University.
Visa, Immigration & Support
- I-20 Issuance: You will be asked to provide proof of financial support sufficient to cover estimated tuition, fees, and living expenses for at least one academic year.
- Experiential Education (CPT/OPT): Curricular Practical Training (CPT) authorization is typically required for off-campus experiential placements. After completing the degree, you may be eligible to apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT).
- Campus Life: Eligible for part-time work on campus. Career Fairs held by MUSOP & University. Professional Development & Career Counseling Services Available on Campus.
