I believe physical therapists have a wonderful opportunity to provide patients with hope. Hope for a future with better mobility and more independence. Our education and skill set provide us with the ability to meet patients where they are and be this beacon of hope. As an instructor, I want to share this passion for patient care with my students and provide them with the knowledge and skills to be successful. I believe hands on learning, constructive criticism and real-world patient experiences are the most effective teaching methods. In this ever-evolving field of physical therapy, it is imperative to teach students the importance of staying up to date on best practice through research while simultaneously teaching them to critically think and use their clinical reasoning to tailor every plan of care for each patient. I want to motivate and inspire students to realize they are not simply providing therapy, they are often giving hope through their knowledge and skills to each patient they encounter.
