Scholarship Renewal Criteria

Important Federal Student Aid Update (Effective July 1, 2026)

Federal student aid regulations are changing beginning July 1, 2026, which may affect loan eligibility, borrowing limits, and program availability for students and families. The Office of Student Financial Assistance is actively updating policies, systems, and communications to reflect these federal changes. We encourage you to review official information from Federal Student Aid while updates are in progress: https://studentaid.gov/announcements-events/big-updates. If you have questions about how these changes may impact your financial aid, please contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance.

Renewal Process

Most scholarship awards require students to meet certain renewal criteria for continued eligibility. You may view the eligibility criteria of your scholarship by logging into myMU. Once you access your Award Offer, click on the Fund, which hyperlinks to the Fund Message. The Fund Message provides the terms of the award, renewal criteria, and any other steps you may be required to take to receive the award.

Eligibility for renewal is typically checked at the end of the spring semester. A student who does not meet the renewal criteria for a Marshall University Scholarship at the end of the spring semester may make a Marshall University Scholarship Reinstatement Request for Merit-Based Scholarships and/or a Marshall University Honors Scholarship Reinstatement Request for Honors College Scholarship if the deficiency can be remediated during the summer.
