Biography

Jessa Dingess, MSW, LGSW, is a Clinical Instructor at the Interdisciplinary Behavioral Health Center and an Adjunct Professor at Marshall University. She also serves as a Co-Advisor for the Phi Alpha Honor Society, advises the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, Psi Chapter, and oversees BSW students completing their practicum.

A proud alumna, Jessa earned her Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) in 2012 and Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2017 from Marshall University. Her areas of expertise include gerontology, medical social work, homelessness, and advocacy, and she is passionate about supporting vulnerable populations through education, community engagement, and direct service.

Professionally, Jessa has worked as a social worker with Marshall Health’s Internal Medicine department and the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) as a Child Protective Services (CPS) worker. In addition to her duties with the Department of Social Work, she also works with St. Mary’s Home Health, providing support services in the community.

Her commitment to community service is reflected in her active engagement with several organizations, including serving as a board member for the Contact Rape Crisis Center, volunteering with MU Paws, leading as President of the Marshall University Social Work Alumni Association, and supporting individuals experiencing homelessness through Harmony House.

Beyond her professional roles, Jessa enjoys advocating for social justice and participating in policy efforts to strengthen communities. She brings a friendly, compassionate approach to her work and is dedicated to empowering the next generation of social workers.
