Through the Direct Admit program, eligible high school seniors are automatically admitted to Marshall based on established academic criteria, removing barriers in the traditional admissions process and providing early clarity about their college plans. The initiative is designed to simplify next steps for students and families while reinforcing Marshall’s commitment to regional access and student success.
Students at both Symmes Valley and Dawson-Bryant will now benefit from streamlined admissions notification, clear enrollment guidance and dedicated support from Marshall’s admissions team as they transition from high school to college. Additionally, they are eligible for Marshall’s metro tuition, a specialty tuition program for out-of-state students within a 150-mile radius of Huntington.
“We are committed to preparing students for success beyond graduation,” said Zacc Russell, principal of Symmes Valley High School. “Our students work hard and they deserve access to opportunities that match their dedication. This partnership with Marshall streamlines the admission process and gives our seniors the confidence and clarity as they pursue their future goals. We are proud to see Symmes Valley students provided with a seamless pathway to higher education.”
At Dawson-Bryant High School, leaders say the program offers students both opportunity and inspiration.
“Here at Dawson-Bryant High School, we are excited for our students to have an opportunity to begin their college journey with an amazing university like Marshall,” said Kara S. Harrison, school counselor at Dawson-Bryant High School. “As a former graduate student, I know firsthand the educational experience our students will receive at Marshall, and I am excited to see where this journey takes all of them.”
Marshall’s Direct Admit program reflects the university’s broader strategy to strengthen partnerships with area school districts and expand college-going opportunities throughout the region. By proactively identifying eligible students and providing early admission, the university aims to increase college access, reduce uncertainty and encourage students to envision themselves on a clear path to earning a degree.
