With the support of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health, the National Center on Domestic Violence, Trauma, and Mental Health will partner with agencies across the state, including the West Virginia Behavioral Health Workforce and Health Equity Training Center at Marshall University, to launch Weave West Virginia: Weaving Together Communities of Support for People Experiencing Substance Use and Domestic Violence.

Two faculty members from Marshall University’s School of Art and Design, Associate Professor Hanna Kozlowski and Professor Sandra Reed, received grants from the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History to support creative work and promote lifelong learning and healthy aging.

The Marshall University Center of Excellence for Recovery, housed in the Marshall University Research Corporation, was awarded $1 million to examine the experiences of transitional-aged youth (TAY) from their own perspective, using both quantitative and qualitative methods to provide a comprehensive view of the diverse pathways that lead to independence.

The Marshall University Center of Excellence for Recovery was awarded $500,000 from SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) to develop and implement training on mental health and substance use disorder awareness in communities throughout the following West Virginian counties: Boone, Cabell, Clay, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Mingo, Putnam and Wayne.

The Marshall University Research Corporation is pleased to announce our 2023 grant training from Grant Central on Thursday-April 6th and Friday  – April 7th  The event will be virtual. The morning of April 6th (8:30am-12:00pm) will be a Basic Grantsmanship session for all disciplines, followed by an afternoon session on April 6th  (1:00 pm-4:30 pm) focused on NSF submissions.

The West Virginia Collegiate Recovery Network (WVCRN), housed at Marshall University, is partnering with Coal River Coffee Company to create an exclusive blend that the WVCRN can sell in order to raise scholarship funds for the network.

Staff, student leaders and trainees of the Prevention Empowerment Partnership (PEP), a project of the Marshall University Center of Excellence for Recovery, will present at the 19th Prevention Day of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration on Monday, Jan. 30, in National Harbor, Maryland. This is happening in conjunction with the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions

John Marshall University Research Scholars are accepting proposals for Fall 2023 & Spring 2024 Deadline is February 15, 2023. Undergraduate Creative Discovery and Research Scholars are accepting proposals for Summer 2023 & Fall 2023. Deadline is March 23, 2023 for Summer 2023 and April 18, 2023 for Fall 2023.

The Marshall University Research Corporation has announced the winners of the Spring 2023 Undergraduate Creative Discovery and Research Awards and the Summer 2023 John Marshall Scholars Award program.

The West Virginia Behavioral Health Workforce and Health Equity Training Center, housed in the Marshall University Research Corporation, will host a two-day virtual polysubstance summit Dec. 14-15. Titled “In it Together: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Addressing Polysubstance Use” the conference will focus on prevention, harm reduction, treatment and recovery.
