The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education has renewed the Marshall University School of Pharmacy’s continuing education (CE) provider status until 2025.
Gayle A. Brazeau, Ph.D, dean of the Marshall University School of Pharmacy, and Daniel Brazeau, Ph.D., associate professor at the school, have endowed the Fairfield Community Pharmacy Scholarship.
School of Pharmacy assistant professor Blair (Velvet) Journigan, Ph.D., has received a research award from the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute. The two-year grant of more than $150,000 will fund Journigan’s research on neuropathic pain.
Ten Marshall University School of Pharmacy students and one faculty member joined the Rho Chi Society May 13 night during a private, virtual induction ceremony.
The Marshall University School of Pharmacy announced this month its student scholarship awards for the 2020-2021 academic year. Marshall University School of Pharmacy earned top ten status in a new college ranking system grouped by major and degree level that weighs earning potential, tuition and debt. GradReports.com, which used U.S. Department of Education data published in 2019, ranked Marshall’s School of Pharmacy the sixth best pharmacy school overall and for median salary ($122,000), 13th for median tuition ($19,522) and eighth for median debt ($86,145).
Information technology staff at Marshall University School of Pharmacy and Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine are lending their expertise to personal protection equipment (PPE) production. More than 100 face shields have been produced using 3-D printers, including one personally owned by staff and one at the School of Medicine usually dedicated to 3-D printing of anatomy for student training. The face shields have been provided to St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy recently published a journal article by three Marshall Health clinical pharmacists. Ronald Carico Jr., Jordan Sheppard and C. Borden Thomas authored “Community pharmacists and communication in the time of COVID-19: Applying the health belief model.”
Marshall University School of Pharmacy made and donated more than 12 gallons of hand sanitizer last month to several local charities including Harmony House, Huntington City Mission, the Hershel “Woody” Williams VA Medical Center, River Park Hospital and the Huntington police and fire departments.
The U.S. Public Health Service has awarded Shannon Morrison, a third-year Marshall School of Pharmacy student from Huntington, an Excellence in Public Health Pharmacy Award.
