Charles “C.K.” Babcock, Pharm.D., associate professor for the Marshall University School of Pharmacy, has been selected to receive a 2021 American Pharmacists Association (APhA) GenerationRx Award of Excellence. The annual award recognizes a pharmacist who has demonstrated a commitment to the mission of substance abuse education.

Applying to medical, pharmacy or physical therapy school can be time consuming and stressful. Students have to prepare and submit multiple documents — while at the same time staying on top of their undergraduate coursework. For Marshall University students committed to a career in one of these health professions, the process can now be substantially smoother thanks to three new “Early Assurance” programs.

Marshall University School of Pharmacy inducted 14 members to Phi Lambda Sigma, a national pharmacy leadership society, at a virtual ceremony Friday, Nov. 13.

She has also been selected by her peers throughout the state to receive the Rick Snow Award, which honors distinguished young professionals in college admissions,

Fourth-year Marshall University School of Pharmacy students Alexandria Lewis and Taylor Riedel won the 2020 clinical skills competition sponsored by the Marshall University Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

Marshall University School of Pharmacy in collaboration with Walgreens will conduct a drive-thru flu shot clinic Friday, Oct. 2, from 9 am to 1 pm, in the back parking lot of Stephen J. Kopp Hall on Charleston Avenue.

Marshall University School of Pharmacy’s Class of 2024 is hosting a Hurricane Laura Relief drive-thru collection Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 20, from 1-5 p.m.

The Marshall School of Pharmacy is once again hosting a drive-thru food collection for the Facing Hunger Food Bank Friday, Sept. 18, between 1 and 4 pm. Donors may enter the Charleston Avenue side of Stephen J. Kopp Hall and exit via 11th Street. Non-perishable food items and cash will be accepted.

Marshall University School of Pharmacy assistant professor Velvet Journigan, Ph.D., has received a Young Investigators Award from the American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Medicinal Chemistry (MEDI). This award recognizes young investigators within 10 years of the start of their independent careers who have made significant contributions to the field of medicinal chemistry.
