The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) has recognized Gayle A. Brazeau, Ph.D., dean at the Marshall University School of Pharmacy, for her excellence as a teacher, outstanding achievements as an author and mentor, and overall impact on pharmacy education and the profession.
Timothy Long, Ph.D., an associate professor at the Marshall University School of Pharmacy, along with Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine colleagues Monica Valentovic, Ph.D., professor of biomedical sciences, and Hongwei Yu, Ph.D., professor of biomedical sciences, have received a three-year grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to study the use of disulfiram in the treatment of antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections.
Marshall University’s Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists is hosting its annual winter gala Saturday, Feb. 15, from 8-11 p.m. at the Mountain Health Arena in Huntington. The Masquerade Ball-themed event is a fundraiser for Huntington City Mission.
Marshall University School of Pharmacy and the Fairfield Neighborhood are hosting “Celebrating the Right to Vote with a Local Perspective,” a complimentary brunch and panel discussion from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Stephen J. Kopp Hall in Huntington.
Marshall University School of Pharmacy has added a research track to its Doctor of Pharmacy program. The new certificate program will provide in-depth training and experience in scientific, clinical or educational research.
Mary H. Hodges has endowed a new scholarship to honor Gayle Brazeau, Ph.D., dean of the Marshall University School of Pharmacy. The Mary H. Hodges School of Pharmacy Scholarship is for pharmacy students with financial need who are residents of Cabell or Wayne counties in West Virginia, Lawrence County, Ohio, or Boyd County, Kentucky.
Marshall University School of Pharmacy collected $700 to benefit the A.D. Lewis Community Center in Huntington. “Penny Wars” was a competitive fundraiser among classes, faculty and staff. Proceeds will be used to purchase school supplies and Halloween costumes for school-age youth at the community center.
Fourth-year Marshall University School of Pharmacy students Morgan Bridwell and Emily Davis won the 2019 clinical skills competition sponsored by the Marshall University Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
Richard Casto of Huntington was awarded the D. Joanne and F. Gordon Yingling Scholarship at a pharmacy school luncheon celebrating American Pharmacists Month this October. Casto is the first recipient of this scholarship, which was one of two established in 2018 by Dr. Kevin W. and Mrs. Mary Alice Yingling.
Just 16 months ago, an empty lot stood at the corner of Charleston Avenue and Hal Greer Boulevard in the Fairfield section of Huntington. Today, that same lot is graced by the impressive Stephen J. Kopp Hall, now home to the Marshall University School of Pharmacy.
