Biography

Dr. Katie Burns earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from West Virginia University School of Pharmacy in 2024, graduating summa cum laude. She went on to complete a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at the Hershel “Woody” Williams VA Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia, where she gained clinical experience in internal medicine, ambulatory care, mental health, and formulary management. During her residency, she completed a teaching certificate through the VA and Marshall University.

Upon completion of her residency in 2025, Dr. Burns joined the faculty at Marshall University School of Pharmacy as a Clinical Assistant Professor. She also practices as an Internal Medicine Clinical Pharmacist at St. Mary’s Medical Center and works per diem as a community pharmacist at Walmart.

Dr. Burns’ practice interests include geriatrics and the management of chronic disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia.
