Biography
James comes to MUSOP from Corbin, KY, but spent most of his adult life living in Lexington, KY before moving to Huntington. James chose MUSOP because of the need for pharmacists in the region and because he has always felt a connection to West Virginia. During his time at MUSOP James served as the President of Kappa Psi, he was a member of APhA, ASHP, AMCP and was MUSOP’s student representative to the West Virginia Pharmacist’s Association for the 2022-2023 school year.
“I have had nothing but great experiences during all of my APPEs. I did my first 3 with Rite Aid, for whom I will be working after graduation. I was one of the first students chosen to participate in the Rite Aid Rural Scholars Program. I did my 5 other APPEs at Huntington VAMC, Laurel Heights Nursing Home, The Medicine Shoppe, Marshall Geriatrics, and Cabell-Huntington Health Department. I chose several of my APPEs specifically to work with geriatric patients, because they are my favorite patient population to work with and they are also the population I will work with the most as a community pharmacist. My favorite APPE was at The Medicine Shoppe, where I had the opportunity to compound a variety of prescriptions – for both people and animals. I also had an opportunity to work with patients with substance abuse disorder, another population that I have a passion to serve. Although my journey at MUSOP is approaching its end, I look forward to my next chapter as a pharmacist for Rite Aid of Ohio.”
