Marshall Women’s Basketball Preview

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (WMUL-FM) —Tomorrow, Marshall Women’s Basketball looks to put together a winning streak as it welcomes MAC foe, the Kent State Golden Flashes.
The Herd is coming off a dominant road win, its first of the year, as it came away with a 75-53 victory of Coppin State.
Marshall led the entire game and put up a stellar performance on offense as the Herd shot 41% from the field and 36% from three, hitting 12 from beyond the arc.
The main emphasis for Marshall this year has been defense, and that was shown as it forced 25 turnovers and scored 30 points off of turnovers.
Leading the way for Marshall was Timaya Lewis-Eutsey with 19 points, five assists and two steals.
Meredith Maier shined with a season high 17 points, going 5-11 from three and 50% from the field.
With the victory, Marshall moved to 6-3 on the year.
The Kent State Golden Flashes enter the contest after a 54-74 loss to the Arkansas State Red Wolves.
Kent State was no match for the Red Wolves as Arkansas State shot 41% from the field and 38% from three. The Red Wolves also forced 25 turnovers with 23 points off of turnovers.
After the game, Kent State fell to 4-5 on the season. This will be the fourth time that these teams have played each other and the first matchup since the 2011-2012 season.
Marshall leads the all-time matchup 2-1 and won 93-55 the last time these teams played.
