HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WMUL-FM) — More than 38,000 people in the state of West Virginia are living with Alzheimer’s disease.

The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America is working to provide resources for people caring for those with Alzheimer’s, according to the foundation’s president Charles Fuschillo.

“Nobody goes on the journey alone, and that’s what our services are,” he said. “To make sure we are with you every step of the way.”

The foundation is traveling the country on their Educating America tour, with hopes of giving people the tools they need.

“It’s critically important that people are educated about Alzheimer’s disease, but also the services that are available,” he said.

Fuschillo said it is important to not overlook those who provide care and support.

“We want to ensure that individuals that are caring for somebody know that there are many facets of caregiving, and we want to make sure that they have the right tools to go along the journey,” he said.

The conference will be held at the Marriott Town Center in Charleston, West Virginia on October 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
