HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (WMUL-FM) — The Marshall Men’s Soccer Team (3-1-4, 1-1) suits up for another Sun Belt Conference match Saturday evening, taking on Georgia State (3-2-4, 1-0-1) in a 7 p.m. showdown at Hoops Family Field.

The Thundering Herd is aiming to get back in the win column and regain solid positioning in the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 poll after nearly dropping out of the poll entirely following the 2-1 defeat it suffered in its last match against No. 19 Georgia Southern.

Georgia Southern etched out the victory in a closely-contested match that was even at one-all through 78 minutes until Ricky Louis sent a second shot past Herd goalkeeper, Eddie DeMarco, in the 79th minute to give Georgia Southern the lead, and eventually the win.

The Panthers, on the other hand, are coming off a dominant 5-2 victory at home against Old Dominion on Tuesday that saw Georgia State jump out to a 3-0 lead throughout the first 45 minutes. The Panthers would put two more on the scoreboard in the second half to match the Monarch’s two second-half goals, and secure the dominant three-goal victory.

Marshall looks to re-enter the win column and move itself back up in the Top-25 rankings, while Georgia State looks to stay hot and potentially upset its ranked opponent.

FM88 Sports’ Nate Courtney and Victoria LaVonne Wilburn will be on the call on 88.1 WMUL-FM and on Stream 1 at www.marshall.edu/wmul/, with live pregame coverage beginning at 7 p.m. and game action beginning at 7:15 p.m.
