HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (WMUL-FM) —Tomorrow, Marshall women’s basketball aims to extend its winning streak to three in a row when it welcomes the IU Indy Jaguars into the Cam Henderson Center.

The Thundering Herd is coming off yet another impressive performance with a 85-54 victory Friday afternoon over the USC Upstate Spartans at Morehead State University.

The Herd let it rain in the contest from the behind the arc in the first quarter, connecting on 7 triples to take a 29-7 lead after the period. The Herd converted on 16 shots from behind the arc in the contest.

Defense, which has been the bread and butter for the Thundering Herd this season, continued to be the strong front as the Herd forced 36 turnovers and scored 37 points off those turnovers.

Leading the way for the Thundering Herd was senior guard Timaya Lewis-Eutsey, scoring 17 points, going 6-for-8 from the field, including 2-3 from behind the arc, and adding on 5 steals.

With the win, Marshall improved to 3-2 on the season and won back-to-back games.

The IU Indy (formerly known as IUPUI) Jaguars enter the contest after suffering a drubbing 75-58 loss to the Evansville Purples Aces.

The Jaguars could not stop the Purple Ace’s offensive power, as Evansville shot 47% from 3-point range going 8-for-11. The strong shooting helped turn what a three-point halftime deficit into a 17-point win for the Purple Aces.

With the loss, the Jaguars fell to 2-3 on the season. The Jaguars are 1-0 all-time against the Thundering Herd with the only matchup being a 60-49 win on Nov. 16, 2007.
