HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (WMUL-FM) — After a two-game road trip, the Marshall Thundering Herd returns to Huntington to host the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in the Cam Henderson on Wednesday night.

Marshall Enters at 14-8, 6-4 in the conference, coming off a crucial road win against Arkansas State on Saturday, winning 70-61 in Jonesboro.

Southern Miss enters at 12-12 (6-6) and also coming off a win after defeating James Madison on Saturday, 73-65.

This should be a high-flying offensive game. Both teams rank in the upper half of total offense and field goal percentage, as Marshall is second, shooting .462% and Southern Miss is fifth, shooting .449% from the field.

The bread and butter of the Herd has been its three-point shooting. It is the engine of the Marshall offense, and the stats back it up. Marshall is shooting .368% from deep, the best in the conference and 44th in the country. Marshall, on average, makes 10.2 threes per game, also first in the conference and 32nd in the nation.

Marshall is also averaging 5.2 blocks per game, which is good for 11th in the nation. This has been a result of the play from Marshall’s big men Matt van Komen, Wyatt Fricks and Erich Harding.

Southern Miss had a tough stretch. After starting 5-1 in the conference, the Golden Eagles lost five straight games before winning against JMU on Saturday. They look to build momentum and get back on track.

Marshall is in fouth place in the conference and controls its own fate down the stretch. They are 1.5 games out of first and look to get a win to get even closer to the top of the conference.

The game will be broadcast on the Cutting-Edge Sports Radio Network on WMUL-FM 88.1 and online on Stream 1 at marshall.edu/WMUL. FM88 Sports’ Anthony Doria and Morgan Watson will have the call with pregame coverage at 6:30 p.m. and tip-off at 7 p.m.
