Seneca | The Ballad of West Virginia Lineup
BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (WMUL-FM) — Ahead of the first-ever Ballad of West Virginia Music Festival, WMUL-FM 88.1 will be spotlighting each artist set to perform on June 13th! Tune in every weekday ahead of the festival for a new spotlight.
Up next, we have Seneca.
The Morgantown-based Appalachian rock band is set to play at The Ballad of West Virginia, a celebration of Appalachian music and culture, on June 13th at the Barboursville Amphitheater.
Seneca was formed in 2023 by five college students at West Virginia University. The band members include Andrew Parsons (frontman/vocals), Dylan Hurt (guitars), Chris Little (drums), Jared Longmore (bass) and Graham Sterling (keys).
Popularity arose quickly for the student-led band, packing bars and filling the streets of Morgantown. So many people would attend their block parties that one had to be shut down. However, Morgantown kept asking for more, and Seneca was able to perform a Summer Sendoff Block Party on April 24th.
A highlight of the past year for Seneca was their opportunity to perform at FallFest 2025. The student-exclusive music festival is hosted annually by West Virginia University, and Seneca took the stage before Grammy-winning West Virginian, Sierra Ferrell.
Outside of West Virginia, Seneca performed in Nashville, Tennessee, at Category 10, a bar owned by Grammy-winning artist Luke Combs, this past summer.
Seneca released its first EP, “The Wrong Way,“ on June 1, 2025. One of the songs on the EP, “Honey Whiskey,” is their most-streamed song on Spotify, with over 12,000 listens.
Monday, the band released two new songs on streaming platforms: a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s song, “I Need You,” and an original, “Home For October.” The tracks were released on the one-year anniversary of the release of “The Wrong Way.”
Seneca’s music leans heavily on rock, with clear undertones of Americana, folk and country. Their music blends energy with soulful storytelling.
Following their performance at the Ballad of West Virginia, Seneca is scheduled to perform at Jamboree City in Wheeling, West Virginia, on June 20th. Joining them is the Roadhog Band, Joey Adams, and fellow Ballad of West Virginia performer, Grace Campbell.
