Marshall University and West Virginia Department of Education to host “Keep the Ball Rolling” events supporting school food pantries

Marshall University, in partnership with the West Virginia Department of Education, will conduct two Keep the Ball Rolling events Monday, Oct. 27, to support food and clothing pantries serving students and families across the state.

At each event, checks will be presented to county principals and counselors to fund school food pantries for the year.

Event Details:

Huntington Event

10 a.m., Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center, Marshall University

Charleston Event

2 p.m., Yeager International Airport, Marshall University Bill Noe Flight School– Airport Hangar

Donors Include:

Brad D. Smith, President, Marshall University and Alys Smith, First Lady

Shawn Ball, Marshall University alumnus and member of the Marshall University Board of Governors and his wife Angela Ball.

West Virginia State Treasurer Larry Pack and his wife Lisa Pack

The Keep the Ball Rolling title is a play on Shawn Ball’s name, as he has historically funded food and clothing pantries in Raleigh County schools, and in 2024, helped fund 248 public school pantries in West Virginia. Ball has also helped fund the food pantry at Marshall University, Marco’s Market and more.

Ball is also expected to announce a donation to Marshall For All at the Huntington event.
