Marshall University has been recognized for aligning its Master of Science in Human Resource Management degree with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates.

Marshall University’s Lewis College of Business is teaming up with Coalfield Development to host the Appalachian Social Enterprise Summit Oct. 3-4. The summit will be the area’s largest gathering of social entrepreneurs this year, providing an opportunity to learn from and support some of the most creative and compassionate leaders in Appalachia.

The Marshall University Foundation has announced that Jenkins Fenstermaker PLLC has pledged a gift of $75,000 in support of the new Brad D. Smith Center for Business and Innovation at Marshall University.

The Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation (iCenter) in Marshall University’s Lewis College of Business welcomes Paige Leonard as its new assistant director. In her position, Leonard will mentor students from the Brad D. Smith Student Incubator and further develop programs to support innovation across the university and students pursuing an entrepreneurship pathway in West Virginian Career Technical Education (CTE) programs.

Marshall University’s chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Management (SAM) brought home 27 awards from the 2022 SAM International Business Conference this spring. It won first place in the Campus Chapter Performance Program for the Large Chapter Division.

Marshall University’s Lewis College of Business and Brad D. Smith Schools of Business inducted its Beta Gamma Sigma Class of 2022 in a ceremony April 22 in the Don Morris Room at the Memorial Student Center. Forty-four students were inducted in the Class of 2022, one of the largest in the chapter’s history.

The Marshall University Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) chapter has welcomed Michael Shrewsbury into its Hall of Distinction for the 2021-22 academic year, and presented its Outstanding Young Professional award to Jessica Tackett-Napier.

Marshall’s iCenter in the Lewis College of Business has welcomed a new entrepreneur in residence. Ariana Shives is a UX and UI (user experience and user interface) designer. As entrepreneur in residence, Shives mentors students from the Brad D. Smith Student Incubator and supports the iCenter with innovation across the university.

The Marshall University Foundation has announced that the Dutch Miller Auto Group has pledged a gift of $1 million in support of the Brad D. Smith Center for Business and Innovation at Marshall University.
