Biography

Conrae Lucas-Adkins, PsyD is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Leadership Studies, Adult & Continuing Education, and School Psychology (LS/ACE/SPSY) at Marshall University. Her goal is to help create safe and supportive school environments where all students can thrive.

Dr. Lucas-Adkins teaches a range of courses in the School Psychology program, including Data-Based Decision Making I and III, Typical/Atypical Child Development, Application of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, and Instructional Methods & Behavior Modification. She has also taught Cross-Cultural Psychology and Advanced Developmental Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts. Beyond teaching, she supervises school psychology interns, coordinates field experiences for candidates, and serves on research committees across the educational fields.

Her professional work focuses on promoting healthy cognitive and emotional development for youth in schools and communities. For the past five years, she has served as a consultant with SRI International on a U.S. Department of Justice–funded project, creating and delivering trauma-informed training for educators nationwide.

Dedicated to supporting students beyond the classroom, Dr. Lucas-Adkins provides academic advising, career guidance, and professional mentorship. She is committed to helping students develop as scholars and practitioners prepared to make meaningful contributions in their schools and communities. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys reading mystery novels.
