About
Sarah Schaefer Walton joined the Marshall English faculty in 2023. Her research and teaching focus on nineteenth-century British literature and travel, Jane Austen, fan studies, and digital methods. She’s the Director of Digital Humanities at Marshall, a director of the public humanities non-profit organization the Jane Austen Collaborative, and co-creator of Jane Austen’s Desk (JAD), an NEH Digital Project for the Public.
Besides JAD, her current scholarly projects include Serialized Guidebooks and the Making of Nineteenth Century Travel, under contract with Edinburgh University Press, and Mapping Murray: A Digital Atlas of Victorian Tourism, under review by the University of Chicago’s Online Research Publication Service (CORPUS). Past and upcoming courses include “The Digital Afterlives of Jane Austen,” “Victorians on the Move,” and “Digital Archival Studies,” as well as courses in the Honors and Herd Humanities programs.
