The West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals returns to Marshall University’s Huntington campus Tuesday, Sept. 20, to conduct a session during which it will hear three appeals. The court’s appearance will be its seventh at Marshall in the past 12 years and is one of many events to be staged during Marshall’s annual Constitution Week celebration, which this year begins Friday, Sept. 2, and runs through Friday, Sept. 23.

At its first meeting of the new semester, the Marshall University Board of Governors today received an investment earnings report for the second quarter of 2016, as well as updates on Marshall’s volunteer flood relief efforts and an internal review of the university’s student conduct procedures.

The School of Music at Marshall University will host a free recital presented by clarinetist Robert Heath at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, in Smith Recital Hall on Marshall’s Huntington campus.

The Marshall Recreation Center will be hosting its Fall Rec Kickoff event from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25. Anyone in the Marshall community is encouraged to attend.

The first Kids’ Night Out after summer break will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at the Marshall Recreation Center.

Marshall University has developed a training module for faculty, staff and students to learn how to best handle an active shooter situation on the Huntington campus.

Marshall University’s College of Education and Professional Development will serve as host to the 57th annual conference of the Southern Regional Council on Educational Administration Friday, Oct. 7, and Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Charleston.

Approximately 1,900 Marshall University freshmen, escorted by MU police and President Jerome Gilbert, will walk in one large group via Fourth Avenue from the Huntington campus to the Keith Albee Performing Arts Center Friday morning, Aug. 19, for the annual President’s Freshman Convocation.

Rachel E. Edwards, M.D., has been selected as the August 2016 Resident of the Month.

Two Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine students have been selected to serve in committee positions with the American Medical Association-Medical Student Section (AMA-MSS).
